The Ministry of Women's Empowerment and the Family (MINPROFF), led by the Minister, Professor Marie-Thérèse Abena Ondoa, welcomed the OSU Foundation for a working session dedicated to sharing the findings of a study on: Women's knowledge and exercise of their rights among vendors in two markets in the city of Yaoundé, Cameroon, with a particular focus on the right to financial inclusion.

This meeting provided an opportunity to present the findings of research conducted among women vendors in two major markets in Yaoundé. Discussions focused on women's knowledge and exercise of their rights, with particular emphasis on their access to formal financial services. The key issues raised were:

  • Economic empowerment: The study highlights the obstacles faced by women traders in accessing credit, savings, and banking services.
  • Exercise of rights: It emphasizes the importance of raising awareness among women vendors regarding their economic and social rights.
  • Financial inclusion: The results show that financial inclusion is a vital lever for improving women's living conditions and fostering their active participation in development.

At the end of these discussions, the Minister commended this initiative and reaffirmed MINPROFF's commitment to supporting actions aimed at promoting equal opportunity and women's empowerment. For its part, the OSU Foundation expressed its desire to continue collaborating with public authorities.
